    Perfect

The comfort, luxury, friendly staff, close to various scenic spots, very quiet

    Great

The staff and service was superb. They recommended a japanese pub for dinner, but were worried it was hard to find, so they took us there (and it was excellent). The grounds were beautiful, as were the buildings.

The room itself was a little musty and smelly, but we were still quite happy with our selection and Hakone was amazing.

    Very good

A very nice place, if you wish to walk 100 m+ from the entrance to your room. VERY expensive, but not if you are into snobby hotels. Interesting history. Breakfast outrageously expensive, better to buy something at the bakery and at Lawsons

    Perfect

I liked the rich history and the old aesthetics. It was really neat to be surrounded by nature,in the mountains, but still have a very nice, luxurious visit. Most of the staff spoke a little English too.

Some of the food was a bit over priced [especially in the lounge area] and there isn't much for little ones or people running on a tight budget to do. Also, since it's an old building, you can hear the people next to you quite easily.

Very little. Over priced and in dire need of updating

    Very good

beautiful and charming old building, stunning japanese garden, very friendly staff, beautiful natural settings

The interiors need some renovation: yes, the hotel is charming because it is old, but it wouldn't lose a bit of its charm if the bathrooms were new. At the moment, they look run down, not charming.

    Great

We were told upon check-in that all restaurants within the hotel required reservations except for the Westieria Grill. When we went to the Grill at 7 pm, without a reservation, we were told they could not accommodate us until at least an hour later - after 8 pm, although there were many vacant tables available. Since we were traveling with a three- year old, we could not wait to dine so late and had to find a snack off the lobby.

    Perfect

The Fujiya Hotel is steeped in history so staying at this hotel was an experience in itself and perfect for relaxing. Room was a great size (compared to Tokyo) and we requested additional bed for our child. Main reason for staying is the central location for the Hakone National Park (a must see with views of Mount Fuji). The hotel has a wonderful spa, free to all residents as well as a swimming pool. Kids enjoyed the history of the hotel museum with previous residents including John Lennon, Neil Armstrong and several royal dignitaries, as well as walking through the traditional Japanese gardens.

Price of hotel meals was high and there is limited options outside of the hotel but things are available if looking hard enough, although most close quite early. Wifi is a common feature nowadays but only available in the lobby area. Wired internet connection was available in the room - difficult with ipad or iphone!

    Great

I love the decoration of the hotel. It reminds me the 60-70s. The stuffs are friendly and helpful. Highly recommend for those who would like to experience old style hotel.

I was disappointed that the sauna and public onsen are separated.

Old, but historical. Really liked the mineral water baths in the rooms.

Should offer shuttle service to/from miyanoshita station. Altho walkable, with the rain, it was difficult. Need to have more reasonable eating options. Wireless internet should also be available in the guest rooms, not just the lobby. Even at that the connection was random. It would also be nice if the souhun onsen could be an option for fujiya miyanoshita guests. We were willing to pay to experience the outdoor public onsen but was told it was for fujiya yumoto guests only.

    Great

The historical background accompanied by previous visitation by famous dignitaries.

The wooden key chain is way too big.
